Furniture Selections

To update this space, we've selected a few new pieces for the main "sitting area." A new plush sofa with a contemporary arm and slipcovered for easy cleaning was chosen to help soften the lines of the space. It will be in a warm white cottonbasketweave- soft to the touch and a cozy textile for the space. Warm reclaimed wood accent tables were chosen for the room- to add some textural elements and to function more properly in the space. Textured accent lighting helps add some additional fun to the space- like the wood beaded chandelier and the white herringbone ceramic lamp. The neutralness of the sofa, woods and lighting, allows the fun pillows to be the pops of interest- along with the art in the space.

Fireplace

To frame out the fireplace, we start with a framed abstract art piece. This art piece is perfect since it balances some of the blue tones and warm tones that we've used in other spots in the space. Pops of green come in from faux plants- like the faux succulent and faux fig tree- which add a happy pop of color. We finish this space with two large beach-style lanterns made of a rustic wood that tie in the finishes of the rest of the space.

BEACH FUN

To create a relaxing and welcoming atmosphere, I've selected pillows in different patterns to help create a beachy fun vibe. We start with two indigo pillows- one in a textured basketweave, and the other with an indigo print on a linen pillow. We then add in light green tones, like the diamond monotoned pillow and the herringbone green pillow- to create a relaxed, laid back atmosphere.

Wall art

There are many places to use art in this space. Your existing piece you completed yourself- can be framed at framebridge- to help it look more complete- and can mount near your chairs. The boat wall art would look beautiful- in it's larger size, above the sofa and flanked with wall mirrors to help brighten the room. The piece brings in the blues and greens and works well with the other art in the home.

For the layout of the space, you will start with laying down the optional 8x10 polypropolene rug. This rug is super durable to clean stains off of and is considered indoor/outdoor. Next, the sofa will sit where the current loveseat is. The two accent chairs will sit adjacent, with the smaller accent table in between them. Your existing wall art (which can be framed) will mount above this accent table- to center the wall. Above the sofa- the boat wall art will mount, with the two small mirrors next to it. The new light fixture will center to this side of the room.

Your chest from Japan will stay in its current location and a dog sofa will replace the hutch on the opposite wall.

ALTERNATIVE OPTIONS

The views below explore a different option for mantle/wall art option. A beauitful mirror in the space- like the one chosen- would be great for brightening the space and adding a lighter and brighter feel. We can accessorize the mantle with a vase/fig branch and candle pillars to bring a more natural feeling to the space. If a mirror is chosen for above the fireplace, chosing a wall art configuration that didn't include additional mirrors would be best. These prints below harmonize perfectly together and their large size would help finish the wall. They also tie together the pillows perfectly.
